Damian Jim is a Dine’ (Navajo) artist living in Phoenix Arizona, who uses mixed media to create bold colorful pieces from his imagination. His paintings often incorporate Dine’ symbology, writing in English and Dine’, and textile patterns.

Does there need to be a divide between traditional and contemporary Native American art? Our current exhibition “Indian Born, American Made” is a challenge to misconceptions of what Native American art should be. This national exhibition spotlights artwork by invited guest artists who are using traditional and contemporary art forms to maintain a sense of tribal and cultural identity in their explorations of contemporary culture.

An evening of live musical performances, spoken word, and more in celebration of Ziindi’s debut.
An independent zine, Ziindi showcases modern art by local and regional Native American artists.
Ziindi will be released as a printed booklet and online publication, and the event will include a limited number of signed copies by participating artists.
The kick off to Ziindi will be hosted by local Native American personalities and artists.
Local organizations and nonprofits will join us in celebrating indigenous art and culture.
Mission:
The purpose of this event is to exhibit and promote local modern Native American arts. Through the release of an independent zine, the Native American community and youth can have access to these artists and their works. Ziindi is an affirmation of the richness of current Native art and culture, and looks to inspire the next generation.
